Water Deeply, Not Often
Bergen County lawns need 1–1.5 inches of water per week in summer. Water deeply 2-3 times a week rather than a little every day. Deep watering grows deeper roots that handle heat stress far better.
Don't Scalp Your Lawn
Keep grass at 3–3.5 inches in summer heat. Taller grass shades the soil, slows moisture evaporation, and prevents crabgrass from taking hold. Cutting too short stresses the lawn in hot weather.
